Expansion of Botlek Terminal by End of Year

Expansion of Botlek Terminal by End of Year

The volume of transports handled at the Bertschi terminal Rotterdam has increased so much over the past four years that more space is required to facilitate further growth. Therefore, the first of two surface options is used.

The lot of land is situated east of the current terminal area and encompasses about 15,000 m2, which correspond to an increase in storage capacity of 1,000 TEU. The expansion of the terminal also strengthens Rotterdam as plastics hub. The expansion should be completed by the end of this year.

 Second tilting plant

Next to additional storage and handling capacities, a second tilting plant will be installed. In the first half of the year, plastic imports from the Middle East increased gradually, indicating that the demand for such plants is also continuously growing. The latest developments have shown that next to plastic granulates also coffee beans and sugar imports will be transferred from the 20ft-deep-sea-box to the European 30ftliner- box by the use of such tilting plants in the future.
