Oil & Gas UK Gets New Supply Chain Director

Oil & Gas UK Gets New Supply Chain Director

Oil & Gas UK, the leading representative organisation for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, has appointed David Ripley as its the new supply chain director.

David replaces Brian Kinkead, who moved on earlier in the year, and has over 25 years of varied experience in the upstream oil and gas industry in areas including: geological evaluation; drilling and completion fluid technology; and well engineering technology. He has also occupied senior technical, business development and operational roles – as well as working as a consultant and a managing director.

David Ripley said: “I’m excited to be taking on the role of supply chain director at Oil & Gas UK. The companies which make up this section of the oil and gas industry include internationally-renowned engineering and supply contractors which have grown their businesses here alongside domestic production over the last four decades.

Our supply chain community is now a centre of global excellence in offshore engineering, particularly subsea and structural integrity work. I will be looking to put the needs of the supply chain to the top of the agenda at Oil & Gas UK, as well as spearheading the long-term work of the new Well Life Cycle Practices Forum. This forum was set up by the Oil Spill Prevention and Response Advisory Group (OSPRAG) to bring together knowledge and experience of best practice with regards well design, construction and operation.

Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, Malcolm Webb, welcomed the appointment: “David has first class senior industry experience at the sharp end in both UK and overseas markets and he has all the attributes required to lead our supply chain engagement.

We have a world-leading global supply chain based here in the UK which provides hundreds of thousands of jobs, contributes £5-6 billion every year to the Exchequer and exports another £6 billion worth in goods and services. It’s therefore important we continue to make the UK an attractive place for these companies to stay.

More than 130 companies in our growing membership come from the contractor community and its vital that, as the voice of the offshore industry, we reflect the huge importance of this industrial success story in the work we do.”
