DONG to Deliver Submarine cables for Germany's Offshore Wind Farms

DONG Energy, Fredericia (Denmark) and Nexans Deutschland have concluded a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 900 kilometres of medium-voltage submarine cables.

Up until the end of 2015 (or, optionally, 2017), the Danish energy company will take delivery of up to 150 kilometres of high-performance cables every year for new offshore wind farms to connect the individual wind turbines with each other and with the transformer platforms at sea.

The installation and delivery of accessories are additional contract options associated with the delivery of submarine cables for Borkum Riffgrund 1, Borkum Riffgrund 2 and West of Duddon Sands as well as for other planned projects.

In the past, DONG Energy has awarded cable installation contracts for the Horns Rev 1, Horns Rev 2 and Anholt wind farms to Nexans Deutschland.

The scale of this contract and the fact that DONG Energy is once again ordering submarine cables for offshore wind farms from Nexans demonstrate the quality and competitiveness of our products”, says Christof Barklage, CEO of Nexans Deutschland.
