Havyard to Built Field Support Vessel for Atlantic Offshore

Havyard to Built Field Support Vessel for Atlantic Offshore

Atlantic Offshore chose a Havyard design when securing a North Sea agreement with the France-based international oil and gas corporation Total.

The Fosnavåg-based Havyard Group AS was today officially unveiled as supplier of a Havyard 820 design for the shipping company Atlantic Offshore. Atlantic Offshore is located at Sotra just outside Bergen and has a fleet of 22 vessels. The company has around 580 employees.

Atlantic has engaged in a four-year standby contract with Total in the North Sea and the shipping company will from 2014 put in place a new vessel with a capacity for 300 persons in the Martin Linge gas field, northwest of Stavanger, Norway.

The vessel is a standby vessel or FSV (Field Support Vessel), and is designed by Havyard Design & Engineering in Fosnavåg. The Havyard 820 design is also a completely new design from Havyard. The vessel is due to be delivered in the summer of 2014.

 Proud sales manager

Sales Manager Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane of Havyard Global Solutions AS is of course delighted with the fact that Atlantic once again has chosen a Havyard design.

We are proud of the fact that we are able to design vessels with the characteristics and possibilities that the end-user values. Cooperating with a very competent shipping company like Atlantic Offshore results in our products continuously being developed and our products are also winning in strong competition with others. The Havyard 820 design is developed by Havyard Design & Engineering to satisfy the specific demands of a modern standby vessel. This contract shows that we have succeeded with this. I am pleased with the trust that both Total and Atlantic Offshore show us“, says the Sales Manager in a statement.

Atlantic Offshore has previously worked with Havyard Group. “Ocean Pride”, a Havyard 832 design, was delivered to the shipping company in February this year, and CEO Roy Wareberg of Atlantic Offshore, commends the close cooperation the shipping company has experienced with the Fosnavåg-based group.

 Vessel of the future

We are very happy with the cooperation with Havyard Group and the new vessel is designed in close collaboration with the group. This will be the next generation standby vessel having the most modern solutions within fire- and standby.”

With close to 25 years’ experience in terms of standby vessels we have together with Havyard`s ship designers defined a modern and functional vessel for the future. It is adapted to the demands in both the English and the Norwegian sector, explains Wareberg, who expects more contracts based on this design within a short space of time.

There will be much Norwegian equipment fitted out onboard this new vessel. In addition to a great deal of external contractors being involved, Havyard Power & Systems is going to deliver numerous other products and services for this project, such as electro engineering, Havyard IASTM and PMS, Havyard ConceptBridgeTM, Havyard NavCom and Havyard Bridge Watch System.
