RWE npower renewables’ proposed Atlantic Array offshore wind farm will have the capacity to generate up to 1500 megawatts of renewable energy within the Bristol Channel Zone.

The wind farm would be located offshore around 14 kilometres from closest point to shore on the North Devon coast, 22.5km from closest point to shore the South Wales coast, and 13km from Lundy Island.

First round of public consultation on the Preliminary Environmental Information for Atlantic Array Offshore Wind Farm was carried out between the 10th September 2011 and 10th November 2011. In May 2012, the company announced alterations to the project boundary and wind farm turbines.

In November of 2012, RWE npower renewables announced a revised date for submitting their application for the project to the Planning Inspectorate. To ensure they can give full consideration to all the feedback generated by their consultation on the proposed wind farm, the company has decided to make their submission in spring 2013 as opposed to the original date of December 2012.

The following is a video of the Atlantic Array, made by 3DW, which has been successfully used at the public exhibitions in 2011, along with an interactive 3D Model of the wind farm.
