About us
The Workboats Division represents one of the four ship-newbuild domains of Damen Shipyards, alongside Offshore & Specialized Vessels, Yachting and Naval. Workboats focuses on designing, engineering, building and commissioning of Workboats, such as High Speed Craft, Fast&City Ferries, Stationary Dredgers and Tugs.
The role
Within the Workboards Engineering department, there is a new innovative project with regards to shipbuilding with composite materials. As an intern, you will be assigned to the research and development of foundation systems for composite ships. This is with a full focus on optimizing the design and production processes.
Key accountabilities
- Develop a Excel-tool: developing an advanced Excel-tool to calculate the forces that pressure the foundation of the ship
- Compose a workflow drawing: visualizing the process of foundation development till actual production. The workflow drawing will give a detailed overview of the different fases of a project and the underlaying connections they have. From concept design till implementation of production.
- Design of production detail plans: Design detailed plans of the technical aspects for the production process that we use for our foundations.
Skills & Experience
- You are currently enrolled in either a Bachelor or Master study, preferably in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Naval Engineering or similar.
- You are a proactive, result-oriented, with initiative taking ownership.
- Experience with Excel and CAD-software
- Good command of English and Dutch, especially in writing
- Knowledge on composite materials is a plus
