About us

Damen Services is the service division within the Damen Group and delivers all the after-sales activities for the Damen portfolio with a prime focus on workboats and offshore support vessels. The division aims to be the strategic partner to deliver sustainable service and support during the lifecycle of Damen customer’s assets.   

Damen Services has a global coverage with service hubs worldwide and its head office in the Netherlands. By providing excellent service with the initial delivery and throughout the lifecycle of Damen vessels, Damen Services strives for recurring customers for both new build and service. The primary focus is to further enhance the service portfolio on the Damen installed base and to add value to the market by utilizing knowledge of Damen vessels and their systems. Through our strategic global presence, we aim to be present as close to our clients as we possibly can, while ensuring that we continue to act as one Damen Services at all times.   

The organization is based on a decentral management model, with area teams that are end-to-end responsible for selling and delivering services in their area. Area teams usually consist of a multidisciplinary team of commercial and operational roles, both in the head office and in the service hubs. A central governed part of the organization covers specialized commercial services, acts as an expertise and knowledge center on Damen service and provides operational, commercial and staff expertise in support of the area teams.

The role

As a Project Manager Customer Training, you are involved in all phases of the training project; from the preparation phase to the execution phase. In this role, you maintain an overview and take the lead on various training components.

You are responsible for the progress, execution, and financial results of the project. You procure various external training components from suppliers and carefully coordinate the (project) planning with internal and external partners. You work from the office and sometimes at the customer's location where the training is conducted.

You are part of a Damen project team of approximately 10 colleagues where various Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) disciplines come together. You collaborate with the team lead of the Training department and with the ILS manager of the project. Within the project's framework, processes and tools stem from Engineering. With these, we plan and implement the necessary support, services, and any design changes.

It is your accountability to ensure seamless integration of training components for this project.

Key accountabilities

• Preparing and drafting training and education plans using a project-based approach such as TNA (Training Needs Analysis) and/or TDSP (Training Development Support Plan);

• Consulting with the customer (representative) about the program's content;

• Developing training programs based on contractual specifications;

• As project lead, you monitor the planning, progress, quality, and budget using the (SAP) ERP system and various project schedules;

• Reporting project results to stakeholders within Damen;

• Risk management; for instance, identifying potential (training) risks and developing and implementing mitigation plans;

• Acting as a sparring partner for the ILS manager, team lead, and/or customer on expectation management.

Skills & Experience

• You are strong in communication, engaged, customer-oriented, service-oriented, and a true team player;

• You excel in planning and organizing, maintaining financial oversight, with attention to detail and quality;

• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a similar role in a project environment;

• You are an independent individual and also seek natural collaboration;

• You can provide (training) advice to individuals within and outside the project team, you can put things into perspective, and moreover, you have the patience sometimes necessary to achieve the desired project result;

• Knowledge and experience such as that of a Maritime Officer and/or from shipbuilding, maritime engineering, or mechanical engineering;

• An excellent command of both Dutch and English languages, both written and spoken;

• And do you want to see something of the world and have no problem with occasional short-term business trips.
