About us
Damen Services' mission is to support the sales organization of Damen in delivering vessels by providing additional value in the form of services.
The department gives substance to the concept of high quality and high customer satisfaction. After the delivery of a vessel, excellent services are delivered in order to increase the likelihood that a customer chooses Damen again for the delivery of a new vessel.
At the operational level, the Services department maintains contact with clients and is the eyes and ears of the sales organization. Services provides a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes the handling of warranty calls, providing training, providing spare parts, providing maintenance and perform modifications and repairs. That is reflected in the behavior of its employees; they are always available, proactive, keeping their promises and always do more than is asked of them. Within the Services department the question is always: How do we make it happen?

The role
For our office in Gorinchem we are looking for an enthusiastic, communicative and experienced Project Manager ILS. As part of the Services Technology, Development & ILS Department the Project Manager ILS is responsible for the progress, execution and financial results of his/her ILS projects.
ILS Project Management in Damen Services is distinctive for managing a complete scope of Services products during and after newbuild of a vessel. Clients who bought an ILS package a clients which require a certainty and predictability in their operation and maintenance of their Damen vessel. The ILS specific part is reflected in analysis of the engineering package in reflection of the total life cycle of the vessel, mostly resulting in data-supported parts list and a detailed maintenance management.
Within Damen Services there are several Service Lines who are responsible for the execution of parts of the project, in which the ILS Project Manager is managing the coordination, overview and stakeholder relations. He/she will do that by being organization and people sensitive and making the required reports and overviews at the right time, and communicating that to stakeholders internal (newbuild team, sales team, internal Damen Services team) and external as being our representation to the client.
Key accountabilities
- Coordinates, guides, directs, supervises and monitors ILS projects in all aspects from start to finish for our customers;
- Checks (indirectly) the progress of subprojects related to the entire ILS project;
- Represent Damen Services to our clients;
- Monitors additional work and is responsible for pre and post-calculations, the administrative processing and invoicing of projects (use of the ERP system) and ensures proper completion and communication with all parties involved;
- Ensures correct and regular coordination of delivery agreements with the customer and a satisfactory handling in accordance with the contract.
- Processes maintenance data and analysis within time, budget and according quality standards.
Skills & experience
- Bachelor Mechanical Engineering or similar, supplemented with relevant training courses such as purchasing, work preparation, project-/supply chain management or similar;
- Experience with contracts in English is desirable (contract clauses, technical specifications, sales & delivery conditions, bank guarantees, letters of credit);
- At least 5 years of work experience in a similar position, preferably a technical background in the maritime sector;
- Result-oriented, a "leader" with initiative and management skills;
- Good commercial attitude, social and communicative skills, a team player;
- Familiar with Reliability Availability and Maintainability Analysis (RAM), Failure Mode Effect & Criticality Analysis (FMEA) and Life Cycle Costs calculations (LCC) is a pre;
- Makes decisions and finds solutions when challenges occur;
- Assists in the further improvement and development of ILS products, processes and methodologies.
The following qualifications are considered an advantage:
- Mastery of English, Spanish and French;
- IPMA or PRINCE;
