The role
As a Risk Coordinator at Damen Naval, you will be pivotal in managing and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle. You will lead the end-to-end risk analysis, ensuring that both technical and financial risks are identified, prioritized, and mitigated effectively. Your expertise will help cultivate a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, with a focus on maintaining clear communication and proactive risk management with all stakeholders.
Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading risk identification workshops with stakeholders to assess risks, their implications, likelihood, and ownership across various project stages.
- Conducting both qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, focusing on impact and probability to prioritize critical risks.
- Maintaining a comprehensive risk register, ensuring compliance with legislative and organizational requirements.
- Managing interdependent risks across project layers and breaking them down into manageable levels.
- Supporting risk owners in selecting, implementing, and validating mitigation measures.
- Tracking and following up on risk mitigation actions and ensuring continuous progress.
- Monitoring evolving project risks and emerging threats and presenting regular risk updates to stakeholders.
- Managing risks associated with suppliers, vendors, and supply chain disruptions.
- Facilitating the documentation and sharing of lessons learned to refine future risk management strategies.
Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in risk coordination, ideally within the manufacturing or naval shipbuilding industry.
- Familiarity with risk identification and severity assessment in line with ISO 31000 standards.
- Strong influencing skills to foster collaboration and alignment across disciplines.
- Knowledge of industrial engineering principles (V-Model) and techniques (MBSE) in manufacturing, particularly within naval shipbuilding.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical domain (Mechanical Engineering, Shipbuilding) or Technical Business Administration.
- Proficiency in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
