The department offers a broad portfolio of services for the entire life cycle of a ship built by Damen. This includes handling warranty calls, providing training, supplying spare parts, providing maintenance and carrying out modifications and repairs. This is reflected in the behavior of its employees; they are always available, proactive, keep their agreements and always go the extra mile.

Within the Services department the question is always: How do we make it happen?

The role

The travel desk serves as an internal travel agency for the complete Damen Services division. Damen Services has approximately 330 employees. The travel desk is the expertise centre for travel requests and visa applications. Handling the whole process from booking till final settlements. This also includes all the contact with travel agencies, taxi companies etc.

As a Travel Desk Team Leader, you will provide leadership to the Travel Desk. This is a team of 3 experienced colleagues.

You make sure that the department is managed in such a way that the traveler feels relieved and the processing is efficient, leading to high internal customer satisfaction within the set conditions.

Key Accountabilities

This is a good fit if you like to do the following:

  • Coordinate and direct employees within the team;
  • Closely working together and cooperating with the team to get the work done;
  • Ensuring occupancy in the Travel Desk;
  • Supervise and guide employees in work execution;
  • Answering questions and resolving escalations;
  • Service of Travel Desk maintain and monitor working methods, procedures, customer friendliness and service level of the Travel Desk;

Skills & Experience

We are looking for a pragmatic, persuasive Team Leader Travel Desk with a solid personality, fitting within a dynamic organization with a hands-on culture:

  • Preferably a completed Vocational or HBO education;
  • Experience within the travel industry;
  • Available for 24 – 32 hours;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • Result-oriented, initiative, accurate and precise, planning and organizing skills;
  • Mastery of Dutch and English;
  • Decisive and at the same time flexible in your approach and works methodically;
  • Able to influence, put things into perspective and also knows how to have the patience that is sometimes needed to achieve results;
  • Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders. Well able to manage expectations.
