THE ROLE
Damen Naval is seeking a Technical Specialist Rules & Regulations for the Plans & Arrangements discipline. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the critical link between engineering and the complex landscape of maritime regulations. Your expertise will ensure that our statutory plans comply with ship specifications, industry norms, and regulatory requirements, satisfying all stakeholders. You will collaborate with various technical teams and external entities such as classification societies and customers to deliver the best technical solutions.
As a Technical Specialist Rules & Regulations, you will be part of a basic engineering team, working alongside plan and arrangement engineers to develop statutory plans and secure class and client approval. During the detailed engineering phase, you will assist in interpreting and translating norms, rules, and regulations into customized and effective engineering solutions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As Technical Specialist Rules & Regulations you will:
- Researching, analysing, and interpreting relevant norms, rules, and regulations, as well as customer requirements for Plans and Arrangements (P&A) deliverables.
- Drafting project-specific regulatory frameworks based on applicable norms, rules, and regulations.
- Ensuring that applicable norms, rules, and regulations are accessible to all relevant teams.
- Creating a design basis for the Engineering Department.
- Developing well-substantiated alternative proposals when deviations from the regulatory framework are necessary.
- Supporting project engineers in applying norms, rules, and regulations to their technical solutions.
- Adapting to changing situations and keeping up with the latest developments in the field.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the Plans & Arrangements department.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To excel as Technical Specialist Rules & Regulations you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Bachelor degree in Shipbuilding, Architecture, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Extensive experience with and broad knowledge of Class- and Statutory regulations, preferably acquired with ships or offshore installations.
- Passion for research and a commitment to sharing your knowledge with others.
- Proficiency with 2D CAD and 3D CAD systems such as MicroStation, Cadmatic, and/or 3DExperience (Catia).
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
