About us

Damen Shipyards Group is established in 1927 and is a 100% Dutch family owned international group of companies which operates 34 shipbuilding and repair yards, employing 10,000 people worldwide from a divisional structure with 7 divisions and a holding. Damen has delivered more than 6,000 vessels in more than 100 countries and delivers some 200 vessels annually to customers worldwide. Damen designs and builds innovative vessels and based on its unique, standardized ship-design concept Damen is able to guarantee consistent quality supported by a worldwide network of sales and services. Annual production value amounts to approximately EUR 3bln.
 

Damen’s focus on standardization, modular construction and maintaining vessels in stock leads to short delivery times, low ‘total cost of ownership’, high resale values and reliable performance. Furthermore, Damen vessels are based on thorough R&D and proven technology.

Damen offers a wide range of products, including tugs, workboats, naval and patrol vessels, high speed craft, cargo vessels, dredgers, vessels for the offshore industry, ferries, pontoons and superyachts.
 

For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of (shipbuilding) know-how. Damen also offers a variety of marine components, such as nozzles, rudders, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.

In addition to ship design and shipbuilding, Damen Shiprepair & Conversion has a worldwide network of repair and conversion yards with dry docks ranging up to 420 x 80 meters. Conversion projects range from adapting vessels to today’s requirements and regulations to the complete conversion of large offshore structures. DS&C completes around 1,300 repair and maintenance jobs annually.

The role

Are you enthusiastic about working in this complex international environment? As Business Controller at Damen Holding, you are going to be a member of the Group Control team. You  contribute to analyze and deliver the business performance. You support and engage the Divisions and be accountable for strategic the financial planning modelling like Forecast and Budget.
 

You will continuously improve, develop and drive business metrics and targets. Translate the financial data into useful management information and you will analyze the information to drive the decision making process by getting the story clear behind the figures. You will be accountable for the management reporting and communications, performing analysis and leading initiatives that support the global strategic plans. We use OneStream within Damen to support these processes. 

Your reporting line is to the Group Business Controller for Damen Holding.

Key accountabilities

As a Business Controller your key accountabilities are:

• Coordinate, monitor and report on the budget and forecast process;
• Analyse and discuss the outcomes and identify the risks and opportunities;
• Drive optimization and improvement of processes, standardization of reporting and insight-driven analyses to satisfy the need for management information;
• Execute ad-hoc analyses and reporting;
• Be a bridge-builder among Division and Damen Holding

Skills & experience

We are looking for a Business Financial Professional with proven track record in financial and business control/analytics at divisional or group level. Who is proactive with a hands-on mentality.

The candidate we are looking for has the following skills and qualifications:

• Master in Business, Economy and/or Accounting with 7+ year experience working in similar environment.
• Affinity with Power BI, knowledge of OneStream is a plus.

• Confident with operating in a team in an environment of change.
• Eager and ambitious with the ability to go at least one level up.
• Takes ownership, solid personality with the ability to get things done:
• Able to communicate at multiple levels in the organization in fluent English and Dutch.
