About us
Damen Workboats is a division within Damen Shipyards, dedicated to the design, engineering, construction, and commissioning of workboats, including high-speed craft, stationary dredgers, and tugs. We maintain a versatile product portfolio, collaborating closely with various departments such as Sales, R&D, Engineering, and Production to bring innovative, high-quality vessels to the market.

Your role
As a Naval Architect with Damen Workboats, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our diverse product portfolio, guided by the product manager who oversees strategic decisions about updates, redesigns, and the development of new products based on market trends and internal priorities at Damen. You’ll receive assignments with specific requirements from the product manager and will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to bring these concepts to life in innovative, high-quality designs.

A key part of your responsibilities will be to continuously innovate within our product family, integrating feedback from a broad base of 20 to 30 clients to refine and improve each model. By working closely with teams across Damen, you’ll ensure that each design incorporates the latest technological advancements and meets the specific demands of the workboats market. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and is eager to make a tangible impact on Damen’s workboats offerings.
 

Key accountabilities
In this role, you will:

• Develop and design new ship concepts and series in 3D, ensuring each design meets high standards in terms of accuracy, attractiveness, and client satisfaction.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization, staying updated on market and technological trends, and actively supporting colleagues in their understanding of design concepts.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, procedures, and HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) standards.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in shipbuilding and conceptual ship development, with a strong focus on setting up new designs in 3D.
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and adapt designs based on market input, creating vessels tailored to the needs of multiple clients.
• Strong creativity, communication skills, and market orientation to ensure designs are not only technically sound but also market-viable and appealing.
• Relevant technical education, with experience in a related field.
