DNS Offshore Oil & Gas Decommissioning Forum Starts New Series of Events

Decom North Sea (DNS), the offshore oil & gas decommissioning forum, is starting a new series of events allowing supply chain companies the opportunity to present their offshore decommissioning capabilities to operators and major contractors.

The first such event is taking place on Wednesday, September 14. It will feature presentations from NCA, which provides well abandonment and decommissioning services to the global offshore industry, RBG, a leading provider of integrated decommissioning support services in the UKCS, and the commercial arm of the Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) at the University of St Andrews.

DNS chief executive Brian Nixon said: “We believe these events will have the added benefit of allowing the rest of the supply chain to seek opportunities for collaborations by giving them the chance to network and build valuable connections for the future.’’

The event is taking place at the Palm Court Hotel in Aberdeen from noon-2pm. For further information and to register, contact Sarah Hillyear on 01224 452170. It is open to non-members as well as members.

DNS has grown since its inception in 2010, to have members drawn from operators, major contractors, service specialists and technology developers. With annual decommissioning expenditure in the North Sea forecast to top £1billion within a few years, DNS was set up to tackle the main areas of weakness, which are inhibiting decommissioning supply-chain capability.

Earlier this year in-depth consultation was carried out with its board, members, partner organisations and industry generally to identify priorities for DNS action and set a course of strategic direction towards addressing these requirements in the years ahead.

As part of its remit to support and encourage the supply chain, DNS is continuing to organise a series of events, seminars and share fairs across the UK to help members benefit from the considerable supply chain opportunities within the decommissioning market in these areas.

Decom North Sea and Oil & Gas UK Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2011, which takes place in Dunblane on 4-6 October and will focus specifically on the role and requirements of the oil and gas industry’s offshore decommissioning supply chain. The conference will be chaired jointly by Mr Nixon and Paul Dymond, Oil & Gas UK’s operations director.
