Q10 Obtains Permit for Construction of Offshore Wind Farm in The Netherlands

Q10 Offshore Wind B.V. (Q10) has obtained a permit for the construction and exploitation of an offshore wind farm in the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone in the Q10 Sector.

Q10 intends to include a limited number of innovative offshore wind turbines (WTG) in the wind farm by means of a concession contract.

In summary, the concession will include the right of the concessionaire to realize and exploit one, two or three innovative WTG’s for the duration of the WTG lifetime but with a minimum period of at least five years. The parties will discuss and agree on the rights during the exploitation period, and the principles will be agreed after conclusion of the concession period for the realized works.

As an option, the concessionaire may also realize the foundations for such WTG’s.

The power generated by the works during exploitation period will be off-taken by Q10 or a subsidiary.

WTG of minimum 4 MW will need to be:

1. certified as a Prototype Class C onshore WTG according to the IEC Type Certification System at the time of contract signing,

2. producing power to the grid on at least one onshore location at the time of application for pre-qualification for this tender,

3. out of serial production,

4. with a maximum rotor diameter of 115m.

WTG’s that are already fully certified and commercially available are not considered to be innovative. The WTG’s must comply within the boundaries of the requirements of the permit that has been obtained by Q10.

Q10 intends to appoint the preferred concessionaire no later than 30 April, 2012 (without any obligation to actually award the contract which is foreseen not later than September 2012).

The Q10 offshore wind farm is located in the Dutch EEZ, approximately 23km from shore near the coastal town Noordwijk. The wind farm will be connected to shore via a high voltage export cable that will be connected to the grid in Sassenheim.
