NHC Secures Cpntract with Maersk Oil to Provide Support for North Sea Assets

A specialist North-East oil and gas industry support and training facility has been awarded a major contract with one of the North Sea’s largest oil & gas operators.

The National Hyperbaric Centre (NHC) has secured a 12-month contract with Maersk Oil North Sea UK, to provide diving and subsea engineering representation support for the operators North Sea assets.

Client Representatives provided by the NHC will support all the onshore and offshore diving, ROV, engineering and surveying projects and provide technical expertise while overseeing projects on behalf of Maersk Oil. The contract secures 1350 offshore man-days with Maersk Oil over the next year.

The Aberdeen-based NHC is a privately owned company offering a range of oil and gas industry support and specialised training services to their clients both within the UK and across the globe. It is currently the only hyperbaric centre of its kind in the UK and boasts a team of experts with a wealth of knowledge in the oil and gas industry.

Operating for more than 20 years, the NHC has only recently developed its Client Representative services, with the Maersk Oil contract being the biggest contract secured for this scope of work to date.

The NHC, which also operates a training facility for the offshore industry, has previously developed a training course for Client Representatives on behalf of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) to ensure that a higher level of Client Representative can be provided to the industry.

The NHC’s team of consultants all have a diving, engineering, ROV or technical discipline and as part of the centre’s continuous professional development are required to complete various in-house training courses before being deployed offshore.

Diving Systems Technology and Consulting Manager, Alexander Harper, said: “We have developed a team of highly experienced and qualified professionals to ensure our client’s projects are carried out safely, efficiently and to the client’s requirements. With many years of experience within the oil and gas industry, we also have the onshore technical and operational support to assist with immediate guidance and advice to both our own personnel and clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

In addition to providing global subsea expert support and training, the National Hyperbaric Centre, which was launched in 1987, also boasts hyperbaric pressure test chambers rated to an operational depth of 8000 metres, a work chamber (rated to 1000 metres), saturation system (rated to 300 metres) and an outdoor water test tank. The company delivers a range of services including training courses, testing and trial facilities, research and development, auditing, diving medical support, equipment certification, senior consultancy and lifeboat reception.
