Last cut Tricolor halted due to bad weather

The salvage team commenced with the eighth and final cut of the TRICOLOR last night. However, the operation will be halted due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The cutting began around midnight. The weather is expected to deteriorate rapidly this afternoon and swells of up to five meters are already reported in the area. Several vessels participating in the salvage operation have been called back to port. Jack-up rig ‘Vagant’ will remain on site. The ‘Buzzard’, the second jack-up rig, is to be moved to a sandbank located two miles from the salvage site for safety reasons. As the legs of the ‘Buzzard’ are shorter compared to the ‘Vagant’, the jack-up rig is more exposed to the heavy swell conditions. The bad weather is expected to last for at least four days.
